Message from Rimfire Challenge Shooting Association Board of Directors
There are always things that happen in life that stick with us. COVID-19 is not only something that many of us will remember for years to come, but it is also something that bonds us. It is something that we can all share, as we are all impacted in one way or another. For some, the impact has been little more than an inconvenience, for others, there has been fear and lose and yet for others, there have been miracles as friends or family have survived or even more, have brought new life into this world during this challenging time.
During this time, there is one thing that is very important: that everyone, and especially those in the rimfire challenge community, stay safe and stay healthy.
Majority of RCSA Rimfire Challenge matches are run by match directors/clubs that have a passion for rimfire challenge and/or for helping new and younger shooters. With the fluidity of COVID-19, the different pace at which states are gradually reopening, and the differences in guidelines and regulations across each state, the RCSA BoD does not feel it is feasible for RCSA to make a one size fits all mandate as to how each individual club should proceed when it comes to RCSA sanctioned matches.
We recommend that Match directors/clubs that are hosting an RCSA Sanctioned match use Federal, State and local government guidelines and/or regulations, and use information available from the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/large-events/mass-gatherings-ready-for-covid-19.html / https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html) in combination with sound judgement to govern your club’s decision as to what is best for your club and RCSA Sanctioned matches.
For those that were looking forward to participating in a local sanctioned match and were unable to do so due to the event being cancelled, we share your disappointment.
Currently, RCSA is still planning on holding the RCSA Rimfire Challenge World Championship as scheduled: Oct 10-11th, 2020 at Old Fort Gun Club in Fort Smith, AR. We are working thru some final details and plan to open registration sometime in mid-late summer. We will post more details on Facebook and our Website as they become available.
Please stay safe and stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you on the range in the future.
